Sheet Fed
catalog printing
- When you require smaller runs and page counts for your
catalog printing project, we will run your job on the sheet fed press that best suits your
finished specifications. On catalog printing runs with page counts of 48 or less
and an overall quantity of 5,000 or less you will be in sheet fed catalog
printing territory for a letter size page.
Web catalog printing
- When the page counts go up, as well as the quantity, you will require
web press catalog printing, due to the high speed roll stock used, which
while more costly to start up than a sheet fed press, once running, your
impressions for brochure and catalog printing on a web press are drastically less. The
web press, is where you want your catalog printing project to be run on,
when the quantity and page count demand better pricing.
Catalog
printing page counts
- The page count in catalog printing is important for purposes of press
efficiency. When ever the press runs efficiently you save money on your
catalog printing. If you ever figured out the unit cost of a page in catalog
printing for a thirty two page text run and then added just four more pages
to your catalog printing run, you would be amazed on how expensive those
four additional pages would be, as compared to the prior 32. This is due to
press and bindery inefficiency. Those four pages, would have to be run as
four sets of four on the roll or parent sheet and let's say for example, you
are running a catalog printing job of 10,000 books, the additional four
pages, would only be running 2,500, four up forms and this is a very small
run on a very big catalog printing press.
Catalog printing paper stocks
- The paper stocks used in brochure and catalog printing
vary depending on your page count, overall run, mailing costs and the end
user you are trying to attract. Sheet fed presses can only run a stock as thin as 60# gloss book and not very efficiently. Most better
sheet fed press operators prefer to use 70# gloss book and up. Web presses, can run papers that are much thinner and will benefit your
mailing costs, should you have many pages to print and mail. Standard paper
weights can run as thin as 40# gloss book and the larger run web presses can
run special order papers to 32# gloss book. Paper grades also come into play, as a means of reducing costs. If your selling simplistic
"widgets", you can accomplish your end results with the less bright and less
white grade four or grade five papers, with the "ground wood" content. For a
whiter and brighter look, grade three papers are the most common, with the
"Tiffany" style books, requiring a grade two up to a premium grade paper.

on cash, but long on futures, then you can print cost effectively on the

gloss paper stock, but they will give you a satisfactory finished product
