When Price Is Your Issue
Here it is also quite simple. Somewhere in the middle of the quantity vs. page count math, is where you can essentially try and squeeze a size 10 foot into a size 7 shoe. There are times when a small quick-print press can do the same job as the larger press, but at a lesser quality. Here is where the term "down and dirty" partially comes from. Yes you can sometimes save the money this way, but clearly at the expense of loss of quality that only the large press version can offer.
When Your Product Is Full Color
Color process or full color printing only should be run on a full color commercial printing press. There are times, when a quality quick print press, such as the ones made by Ryobi, can do two passes, of two plates each, in order to run full color. You can get passable work, but does that phrase, "down and dirty" ring your bell again? I should think so. You will never get the registration for quality print work on a quick print press.
