What Can Reduce My Cost
If you do not "bleed" the ink to the edge of the page, there is a cost savings in note pad printing, especially due to the small size and therefore larger yield from the large parent press sheet. The "bleed" will affect the cost of trimming in note pad printing, as if there are not "bleeds" then you have essentially four cuts per pad, running along the parent sheet. Should you have a "bleed" on your note pad printing project than the amount of cuts per pad goes up in order to additionally trim the bleed edge, as there is the edge of the pad where it cuts and a gutter, accommodating the bleed that also has to be trimmed off the sheet.
Note Pad Page Counts
Press efficiency translates to cost efficiency. So any specifications you chose should always take this into consideration. With booklet printing, if your page size is the average letter size, most presses run 16 page signatures, which means by running a sheet with 16 pages you are getting the most yield out of the parent sheet. The better the yield, the better the pricing to you. On a web press in particular, you would not want to go smaller than an 8 page signature, as the bindery becomes more costly with an overall page count that can be divided by four. Efficiency in booklet printing, is to run a page count that is minimally divided by eight pages (40, 56, etc.).
