Benefit from our complete printing services
Why you benefit using a printing company offering a complete line of Los
Angeles printing
services? Have you ever tried buying that great pair of shoes you
wanted but it was only available in a size smaller than you wear? It is
the same when you seek printing services! If the
printing services offered are placing your job on a press that is too small, you
pay too much for your printing services. Why: because the larger press is more
efficient to run! The same holds true for a printing job that is placed on a
press that is too large: you pay more but do not get more for those
printing services. Bottom line: The right press
equals: Pricing and Quality.
What are the usual press configurations for a printing
service?
- The small color printing press: The smallest color printing
press available to you is usually the GTO. This press can run a "parent
sheet" (the actual size of the sheet the printing service utilizes before
trimming) up to 14 x 20". With this configuration the largest standard
booklet size you can print is the 8.5 x 11" , folded from 17 x 11" four page
brochure (or slightly larger). The rest is up to the math: two different 8.5
x 11" flyers (or one longer run), four 5.5 x 8.5" postcards, etc. with
this type of printing service.
- The medium sized color press: These presses range from 20 x 26"
to a 23 x 28" sheet size. The largest "signature" (the amount of pages run
on one sheet") that this type of printing offers
is the twelve page 8.5 x 11" (finished page size) brochure. If your brochure
is "digest size" (5.5 x 8.5" page) then you can run a 24 page booklet
efficiently. The whole key is to be in the "press efficient" zone at all
times in order for you to benefit from printing services where you will
receive both the best price and the best quality for the printing service
you seek.
- The large color press: When you require a large run
(large varies based on page count) or a large page count, you want to be on
the 40" press. Older presses that offered printing services for 16
page booklets were as small as 36". However the newer ones range from
running a 27 x 39.5" to 41" "parent sheet". You benefit here on the large
runs, as 100,000 flyers are going to cost you much less printed on a 40"
press, running 8 up on a sheet (and sometimes more on larger parent sheets,
with one or two right angled in the layout). For printing services with a
medium size, they can only run 6 up, while older 25-26" presses can
only run four. The printing services who can run twice as many win out on
run efficiency.
- The biggest presses: Yes, there are larger presses available, primarily used for packaging, where a large
sheet is needed to laminate to board for box manufacturing. It's also
utilized by Hollywood movie studios when
making the "oversized" movie poster or life sized "stand up
display". It's not a cost effective press for the average poster,
flyers or booklets. Therefore if your poster
requirements are larger in size than can fit a 40" press, have a fat wallet
on the ready!
